The UN’s International Day for Universal Access to Information is being celebrated today, and we’re marking the occasion by launching an improved and information-packed new website, which is dedicated to providing an up-to-date and extensively-researched resource on geoengineering for civil society groups, policy-makers and journalists.
Geoengineering Monitor fulfils a unique role by bringing together and making accessible civil society analysis and critical scientific perspectives on climate engineering. In the new website you can find detailed information on each of the main geoengineering technologies, a world-wide map with over 1,700 different listed projects and all of our latest publications detailing how geoengineering schemes are being researched, tested and deployed. The site also now has extensive and up-to-date content in Spanish.
On top of this, we’ve just published a hard-hitting guest article by award-winning environmentalist Dr Vandana Shiva, whose most recent work looks at false climate solutions such as geoengineering. Dr. Shiva writes that “The Earth is a living organism which regulates her climate. Climate change is a metabolic disorder of the living Earth, as I write in my new book “Nature of Nature.” Geoengineering is a crime against Mother Earth, and against her people. This reckless ecocidal experimentation must stop.“
Geoengineering Monitor will also be publishing a number of key pieces of new content over the coming weeks, including an in-depth exposé of efforts to impose solar geoengineering research onto institutions in the Global South, and technology updates on Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) schemes such as Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage.
Keep up-to-date with all of the latest from Geoengineering Monitor on our new site or, if you haven’t done so already, by signing up to our newsletter.
